U11 Assessments

Soccer in PEI, is a 3-tier division system. It is often used to classify teams based on their skill levels and competitive performance.

How tryouts and assessments work?

All U11 players, both Hunter River and Cornwall, will attend all the U11 scheduled assessments, after these assessments, all players will be placed on their team. The group will be divided by location the player is registered for to complete the assessments.

PLEASE NOTE:

At the first of the season all clubs have to give PEI Soccer the teams we believe we will be entering for the season. Due to the amount of players registered for each location, it would most likely be that there would not be enough first division players in Hunter River. That being said, after assessments and there are enough players skilled enough to play in first division, we will enter a first division team out of Hunter River.

If there are a few players that are skilled to play first, they will have the option to play out of Cornwall and join that first division team.

Our goals are to make sure all players play where their skills are while also understanding the parents decision to play out of the location they registered for.

**Sometimes players cannot make every assessment, this is understandable and we request all players to try their best to attend all assessments.

Here’s an overview of how these levels are typically structured:

1. First Division (Highest Skill Level)

  • Skill Level: This is the top tier, featuring the most skilled and experienced players. Teams in this division play at an elite level, with advanced techniques, tactical understanding, and physical fitness.

  • Competition: Premier division teams often participate in high-level competitions, facing tough opponents from other regions or leagues.

  • Development: Many players in this division aim for professional or semi-professional opportunities. Training and commitment are intensive to maintain high performance.

2. Second Division (Intermediate Skill Level)

  • Skill Level: This is the middle tier, consisting of teams that display solid skills and understanding of the game but may not yet meet the premier division standards.

  • Competition: Teams in the first division compete at a competitive level but may face less intense pressure compared to the premier division.

  • Development: It serves as a pathway for players and teams aspiring to reach the premier division, focusing on refining skills and gaining experience.

3. Third Division (Entry/Developmental Level)

  • Skill Level: This is the lowest tier, primarily for beginner or less experienced players who are building foundational skills.

  • Competition: The second division is often less competitive, focusing more on participation, learning, and enjoyment of the game.

  • Development: It emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and understanding the basics of soccer, serving as a starting point for players to move up the tiers.

This tiered structure is beneficial because it ensures balanced competition, helps teams compete against similarly skilled opponents, and creates opportunities for growth at every level.
