Policy - Fundraising


Purpose

This policy outlines the guidelines for conducting fundraising activities under the name and authority of RC United Soccer Club. It ensures transparency, consistency, and alignment with the club’s mission and values.

Approved Fundraising Activities

RC United Soccer Club permits the following fundraising activities:

  • 50/50 Draws: A lottery-style fundraiser where 50% of proceeds go to the winner and 50% to RC United Soccer Club.
  • Raffles: Ticket-based prize draws where all proceeds benefit RC United Soccer Club.
  • Tournaments: Sporting events organized to raise funds for RC United Soccer Club.
  • Other Activities: Any other fundraising initiative deemed appropriate and beneficial by the RC United Soccer Club Board of Directors.

All fundraising activities must comply with applicable provincial and federal laws, including licensing requirements.

Restrictions on Outside Fundraising

To maintain integrity and control over club-related fundraising:

  • No Outside Fundraising: Individuals, teams, or third parties may not conduct independent fundraising under the RC United Soccer Club name or during RC United Soccer Club events, unless special permission is granted by the board.
  • No Affiliated Fundraisers: Fundraising efforts must be organized and approved by the RC United Soccer Club Board. No external organizations may solicit funds at RC United Soccer Club events or in association with the club.

 
Allocation of Funds

  • Club Ownership of Funds: All proceeds from fundraising activities conducted under RC United Soccer Club must be submitted directly to the club.
  • Board Discretion: Funds raised will be allocated at the discretion of the RC United Soccer Club Board of Directors to support club operations, programming, equipment, travel, scholarships, or other approved initiatives.

Oversight of Raffles & 50/50 Draws

To ensure fairness and transparency in prize-based fundraising:

  • All raffles and 50/50 draws must be conducted in the presence of:
    • At least one (1) RC United Soccer Club Board Member, and
    • At least one (1) independent individual who is not employed by the club, not serving on the board, and not related to any employee or board member.

Eligibility Restrictions

  • Board members, employees, and any individuals in close personal relationships (e.g., family, household, or romantic partners) with board members or employees are prohibited from purchasing tickets or participating in prize-based fundraising draws.

Approval & Oversight

  • All fundraising events must be proposed in writing and approved by the RC United Soccer Club Board prior to execution.
  • All fundraising events must follow local by-laws and procedures (i.e. provincial lottery licence approvals required).
  • The Board reserves the right to audit, modify, or cancel any fundraising activity that does not comply with this policy.

Review & Updates

This policy may be reviewed annually by the RC United Soccer Club Board and updated as needed to reflect changes in regulations or club priorities.
